NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – American Repertory Ballet (ARB) will be joining Career Transition for Dancers as they honor longtime ARB Trustee Nancy MacMillan at the Career Transition for Dancers 26th Anniversary Jubilee: A Halloween Thriller. Presented on the stage of the newly renovated New York City Center at 7:00pm on October 31, 2011, American Repertory Ballet will present Pathways, a new piece created by Company Director Douglas Martin in Ms. MacMillan’s honor. They will be joined by other notable dance artists and companies including New York City Ballet, MOMIX, Natalia Makarova, Houston Ballet, Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo and more.
Career Transition for Dancers is a nonprofit organization that enables dancers to define their career possibilities and develop the skills necessary to excel in a variety of disciplines. Nancy MacMillan has been an avid supporter of both Career Transition for Dancers and, for over 30 years, American Repertory Ballet. ARB is thrilled to be honoring Ms. MacMillan and her passion, generosity and intelligent leadership through this performance.
“Nancy works tirelessly for American Repertory Ballet, as I know she does for Career Transitions for Dancers...Through her intelligence, persistence and drive towards excellence, she contributes an invaluable service to our organization and the dance community,” Martin said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to create a work that honors both Nancy and the important programs that Career Transition for Dancers provides the dance community.”
The Gala reception following the performance will be hosted by Chita Rivera, and includes a Masquerade Supper with world-renowned dance stars, a live auction and a night of dancing at the Hilton New York’s Grand Ballroom.
