On Pointe: What It's All About

American Repertory Ballet launched On Pointe in September 2010 to help make ballet more accessible to the community.  The Enrichment Series brings guest speakers, lecture demonstrations, intimate company performance previews and panel discussions to seasoned dance enthusiasts and new students alike on a monthly basis.  As we look forward to our 2012-2013 programming, I had the opportunity to reflect on how On Pointe has evolved over the last season and a half.  It was gratifying to look back and see that On Pointe has exceeded many of our expect

Q&A with Lindsay Jorgensen, one of this year's "Claras"

Many girls dream of playing Clara, the young girl in The Nutcracker who receives a mysterious gift from a favorite uncle and travels on a magical journey to the Kingdom of the Sweets.  This year, two Princeton Ballet School students, Lyndsay Jorgensen and Emilia Kraft, will be portraying "Clara" in ARB's Nutcracker.  To find out more about what it's like to dance the lead student role in this year's production, I asked Lyndsay some questions:

A preview of American Classics

We're gearing up for the final performance of the season, and I'm as thrilled as anyone.  Here's a look at Robert Johnson's preview in today's Star Ledger.

Dance in the City

I've come out of retirement.

This Easter, I saw and reviewed a performance for The Dance Insider for the first time in many years.  A former colleague of mine from Ohio State, who now directs his own Providence-based company, Lostwax Productions, was in NYC for the weekend, so I brushed off my notebook and hopped my bike downtown to the Cunningham Studios to take it in.
