Bio

Alexis Branagan joined American Repertory Ballet in 2011.  She earned her degree in English and a Certificate in Dance at Princeton University while taking classes at Princeton Ballet School and attending ARB performances.  She has an extensive ballet background, having trained intensively from a young age and attending summer programs at the Kirov Academy, ABT, Kaatsbaan and the Juilliard School.

As Founding Artistic Director of Princeton University Ballet (2008), Alexis created an outlet for classical and contemporary ballet performance for highly trained undergraduate dancers at Princeton.  With this venture,  Alexis became increasingly interested and adept in the administration of a ballet company, overseeing and coordinating artistic, marketing, and fundraising acitivities.  In 2009, Alexis worked as Company Management Intern at Rebecca Davis Dance Company and interned the following summer at Pointe magazine.

Through the Program in Dance at Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts, Alexis studied and wrote about ballet, contemporary, and modern dance technique, repertory, and theory.  In 2011, she created and performed in an original contemporary ballet, With Awaken'd Eyes.  This was the Program in Dance's first ballet Senior Thesis Production and earned Alexis the Outstanding Senior Creative Thesis Award.

Now, alongside her work for ARB, Alexis is a contributing writer for MacFadden Performing Arts Media (publisher of Pointe and Dance Magazine) and teaches ballet.
